Visual Inspection (VI)

Visual Inspection is a widely employed method for inspecting and evaluating the surface condition and visible features of a component or structure, without causing any damage to the material being examined. Our course targets qualified and competent inspection personnel working in the oil and gas sector.

Course Overview

We have designed this bespoke course to give participants a comprehensive understanding of visual inspection in in-service inspections of oil and gas production, process plants, and structures, from both a methodological and practical perspective.

This two-day course is specifically targeted towards existing industry personnel who are responsible for visually inspecting the surface and accessible areas of objects within the petrochemical sector, with the objective of identifying any anomalies.

The advantages of in-service visual inspection make it a widely accessible method for conducting inspections during operation.

Course Objectives

Personnel certified in In-Service Visual Inspection will have demonstrated an understanding of the degradation processes associated with plant equipment and pressure systems. They will leave with a level of confidence to perform In-Service Visual Inspection in accordance with NDT procedures.

  • Identify the main issues associated with in-service degradation
  • Determine the access limitations
