What is an initial examination?

In the dropdown, this option is a full course of training and examination through the centre. It is for those who are new to NDT / an NDT method and hold no current certifications in it.

An initial examination is also the only option for those who have let their examination certification lapse for over 6-months.

Recently failed your exam? Then you need a retest.

Don’t worry, it happens. You have 6-12 months from your original test date to complete your additional training and retake your course examinations.

Time for a recertification?

Once you have passed your final exam, the certification lasts for 5-years. You will need to recertify within 6-months of the expiry date on your certificate otherwise it’s back to Initial Examination level.

Moved companies and need to transfer your SNT certification? Please select re-examination.

When you move to a new company with valid examination certifications, you need to sit re-examination. This ensures that you’re working within their working practices and NDT procedures.
