Radiographic Testing & Interpretation (SNT) – Initial Examination

If your current RAD (RT/RI/BRS) SNT qualification is more than 6 months past it’s expiry, you have reached the right page!

Please note if you have been unable to complete the SNT recertification examination 6 months after the qualification expiry date, you will be required to sit an initial examination.

If you have not attempted this NDT method before or you have been out of certification for more than 3+ years, we would recommend you carry out the SNT Initial Training Courses we have available.

Pre-Requisites

Holds a previous RAD (RT/RI/BRS) SNT Qualification (in applicable level/scheme you are applying for).

 

Interested in Refresher Training?

INTERESTED IN REFRESHER TRAINING?

We find that candidates who book at least a half or 1 day of refresher training prior to their recertification examination feel more confident in attempting the renewal examination.

Whats included in refresher training?

By booking in refresher training, the student will receive a refresher on elements that may be covered in the recertification examination. This may include theory or practical samples. With guidance of our NDT Trainers students can choose to refresher using mock theory papers or be set up with practical samples to test and report on using technical instruction. Students will be provided with a brief summary on their performance prior to the student sitting the examination.

Please note: Refresher Training is not a one-to-one basis. The Students refresher training elements (e.g. theory papers, samples etc.) will be initially be set up by the NDT Trainer who will be available to answer any questions between their respective duties.

Exam Content

This SNT Initial examination may consist of the following elements (examination content is in accordance with the Employers SNT-TC-1A Company Written Practice):

  • *Specific Theory Papers:
    • 1x RT Specific Theory Paper
    • 1x RI Specific Theory Paper
    • 1x BRS Theory Paper
  • RT General Theory Paper
  • 5 Practical Samples (Plate and Pipe configurations – Different materials):
    • 1x Sample (DWDI) super imposed
    • 1x Sample (DWDI) elliptical
    • 1x Sample (SWSI) flat plate
    • 1x Sample (SWSI) curved plate
    • 1x Sample (DWSI)
  • 6x Light Metals Graphs (mix of Gamma Ray/X-ray)
  • 6x Dense Metals Graphs (mix of Gamma Ray/X-ray)

* The specific paper will be in accordance with the industry standard reference in your company’s CWP document and inspection procedure. Array Training recommend reviewing the company’s inspection procedure and related industry standard before attempting your Specific Theory Paper.

The duration for this examination will be approx. 2 Days.
